What a GREAT Kids Serve Sunday we had yesterday! The last one of the season! It is such a joy seeing kids developing and using their God-given gifts in service! And it is also such a joy seeing the adults build these kids up and encourage them! It is just JOY!
We are in the business of building people up! Little people and big people! We want to disciple others to live up to their God-given potential and to fully realize their identity in Christ. It is such an honor and a privilege to serve the Lord by serving others and watching baby Christians (no matter how old they are) grow into wise, mature followers of Christ! Amen!
A reminder that we only have TWO WEEKS LEFT in the Sunday School Season! The last day for Sunday School is June 12th! After that, kids will be in service and Highland Park will start its Summer Combined Service at 10am (instead of two services at 9 and 11am).
Lets finish this year off strong! And lets continue to mentor and disciple each other and our kids through the summer! Look for ways to show kids who God is and how much He loves them! Read age-targeted bible stories together! Let your kids ask questions and find the answers out together! May summer be a time of growth and blossoming!
Coming Up This Week….
Unit 9, Session 3: Gideon
This week, we continue examining the judges of the Old Testament with Gideon. Gideon was an unlikely judge. When God called him, he was afraid and was unsure if he could be used by God. God proved to Gideon, and the Israelites, that He is strong enough and that He is the One Israel should depend on.
The Israelites cried out to God because they knew they could not save themselves. Even Gideon was not enough to save them; God used Gideon to save His people, but God fought the battle for them. The people needed someone who was mighty to save. Jesus Christ came to save us from sin because we cannot save ourselves. Only God, through Christ, can save us.
Help your kids see that God uses our weaknesses for His glory.

FLYTE: Preteen Curriculum (Gr. 4-6)
I’m sure that you are well acquainted with the never-ending question: Why? The question is one that anyone who has ever worked with preteens is familiar with. Why do we have to do this? Why did he get to go to the bathroom? Why can’t I have a phone?
By studying the LifeWay Preteens FLYTE curriculum over the next four weeks (two weeks now, and the other two weeks will be in September!), your preteen will be exploring the idea of decision-making and the truth that he or she really does have control over some of his or her decisions . We will be attempting to answer several questions about the topic:
Session 1: Who Decides? Bible passage: Exodus 1:8–2:10
Session 2: What Are My Options? Bible passage: Exodus 2:11–3:22
Session 3: How Do I Follow Through? Bible passage: Exodus 4:1-17,27-31
Session 4: Am I On My Own? Bible passage: Exodus 6:28–7:13
The purpose of these lessons is to help your preteen learn how to make decisions. Even though he or she might think you make all of the important decisions, we will help him or her see that isn’t always the case. Preteens need to be equipped to make good decisions.
I would encourage you to help your preteen memorize Proverbs 2:9-10 during this unit. Be prepared to ask your preteen what he or she has learned about decisions. Test his or her learning by giving him or her opportunities to make some tough decisions this month.
